Going Kuro Lolita?

All those wardrobe posts on EGL inspired me to lay out my own wardrobe to enjoy some eye-candy. ~ xD

I don't have an impressive Lolita wardrobe, just a very few treasured pieces. It's not worthy making a post about it - but seeing my dresses laying on my bed one to another, I realized how much Lolita style has evolved the past years.

I'll focuss on the brand "Angelic Pretty" in this entry, but similiar changes also applied to the other big Lolita brands like "Moi-même-Moitié" & "Baby, the stars shine bright".

Comparing my AP dresses, the most drastic change was quite easy to see:

THE LENGTH

Left side: AP Rose Toilette OP, Release in 2007 (my "oldest" dress)

Right side: AP Little Birds Symphony, Release in 2012 (my "youngest" dress)

To make it even more clearly:

That is a length difference of 7cm! 

That might not sound that much, but when worn, it cannot be unseen. =/ 

I'm not that tall myself (1,58m), and the "Rose Toilette" fits me just fine. The seams of the dress come across my knees, and the +2cm of lace do the rest. Perfect Lolita Silhouette ♥

As about "Little Birds Symphony"... the missing 7cm do make a huge difference for me, since my knees are definately showing. It might be okay when I'm standing or walking straight (I'm not that prude that I don't want my knees to show), but when I'm bending over... thanks god for the invention of bloomers. xD" 

Anyways, that's one point that makes me feel uncomfortable. =/

THE QUALITY

This is only my personal opinion, but I feel like especially AP's quality has been constantly going down a little the past years. 

Let's take a look at the last photo again...

The Print.

Both dresses are so called "border prints", which means most of the print is going on at the very bottom of the dress. 

As you can see, the print of "Rose Toilette" does perfectly end up with the seams. Not one single dot is cut off. As for "Little Birds Symphonia", the ribbons are cut off at the seems 70% of the time, all around the dress. It's just such a tiny little matter, but for me, it is very bothersome. =/ 

The Lace.

I love the delicate lace of "Rose Toilette". ♥ It has lots of tiny details, and looks just as fragile as a perfume bottle itself ♥ 

I'm not saying that the lace of "Little Birds Symphonia" is bad, but look at the big netting, and bold lines... it also feels a lot thinner then the lace on earlier AP dresses. Don't misunderstand, it is still a nice quality lace! But definately not as beautiful and delicate as Rose Toilette. =/

The thickness of the Fabric.

I could just say "Fabrics used to be thicker then nowadays" and end this point, but theres some more to it. 

The structure of the fabric has changed as well - unfortunately it's very hard to take a decent photo of it, sorry. =/ 

While the "Rose Toilette" has lots and lots of tiny striations alongside which gives a thicker feel, "Little Birds Symphonia's" fabric is flat like an H&M shirt. And that's also how the fabric feels like... =/ 

Those points all together make me hardly consider if I should really spend THAT much money on a new release AP dress. =/

Oh, since we're already at it... here's one more point that makes me consider that even harder. xD"

THE RECENT PRINTS

It's no secret that AP has recently designed a loooot of dresses with toy / little pet animal / cute sweets themes. I'm totally fine with it, and I love the look on other girls! But for me... that's not my cup of coffee. x___X

I'm mostly wearing Hime Lolita, and I don't like to incorporate toy / little pet animal / cute sweets with that. Cosmetics, butterfly's, flowers and roses.. everything is fine for me. But none of the latest releases match my taste. Q__Q

And then... I saw this:

OMG cute Hime OP by AP! Border Print! With Chandelier! (...me absolutely NOT paying attention to the decoration on top of the advertise)

Even though I already have "Little Birds Symphonia", which is kinda the same style of OP, I was immediately craving for that! >////<

Well. Then I saw the close up of the print.

Cupcakes. Little pet Animals. On a *** chandelier. WHYYYYYYY! Dx

That really spoilt everything. Q___Q

The dress has such a nice design and the print looks so awesome from far! 

Now I'm hardly debating with myself wether to get the Ivory version one day, or not. (Second Hand, of course) In Ivory, the cupcakes and so on are not thaaaat much visible. xD"

Argh. Sooner or later I might just go Kuro Lolita. ~__~

Doesn't really solve the Quality problem, but the print issue! xD (Which is, at the moment, most bothersome for me for obvious reasons. lol)

Please let me know your opinion about the latest prints, and the possible quality changes!

♥ My lolita wishlist ♥

I think every girl has a wishlist of items in her head - of course not only specified about lolita. =)

I´ve always had a lolita wishlist that grew longer and longer, and some items disappeared from it as well. xD"

So... I´ve made a listing of my current want-to-have onepieces and jumperskirts! =D

The dresses that are marked are the dresses I bought already (I just put the OP´s I bought within the past year on this list, otherwise this image would have grown too big again). =)

1) Angelic Pretty Rose Toilette MINT.
My absolute favorite lolita dress ever. It´s extremely rare unfortunately, especially the OP in mint... I´m pretty sure that I`ll never own it, but hey... keep the dream alive..? xD"

2) Angelic Pretty Lady Rose MINT.
Have it, love it. Never going to give it away. :´D

3) Rose Melody Rose Aroma Set BLACK
Just bought, it´s getting custom made. =)
I´m going back to my gothic roots, it seems. xD"
I really wanted a plain black JSK or OP for Winter... I´ve fallen in love with Alice & the Pirates Gather Frill JSK before, but my bust measurements are just too big to fit in. ;__; So I´ve chosen this baby.
It´s rather expensive for a taobao dress, since it features special burned out fabric ~ I sold some pieces of my lolita and gyaru wardrobe for it.
Let´s see if I will regret it later. xD

4) Angelic Pretty Melty Chocolate MINT
I love this design so much, I can´t tell. But again, my bust measurement is too big to fit in. ;__;
I tried a friends pink version of the OP a while ago, and it was a torture for me AND the dress, since the OP doesn´t feature any back shirring. ^^"
I already faced myself never getting this dress, just like the Rose Toilette. ;__;
But then, a replica of the Melty Chocolate OP popped up on a taobao store about 1 week ago - and it´s available in lager sizes! Hooray for boobies! :´D
I just bought this one for a super cheap price... which makes me a tiny bit nervous, I confess. I hope the quality is okay. xD"

5) Angelic Pretty Strawberry Ribbon YELLOW
This dress looks so wonderful fruity and fresh, and I just love the design of the top! It´s not such a rare dress, so I will be looking for it to be part of my summers wardrobe next year! =D

6) Baby, the stars shine bright Vampire Requiem BLACK
I love the print and the shape of the dress, it´s so unique! I know a lot of girls are after it, so it´s very hard to get it. But I see bigger chances in getting THIS then getting a AP Rose Toilette. xD"

7) Metamorphose Swan Lake BORDEAUX
My dear friend Marie infected me with her love for this one. xD"
The detailed and colorful print is gorgeous, just like the style of the top of this dress!

8) Angelic Pretty Sweet Jam YELLOW
Another very colorful and summery dress - even though the print is spread all over (which I usually dislike), it looks not so busy and very cute to me!
I´ll be looking to make it part of my wardrobe next spring or summer. *__*
I love the halterneck, btw! x3

9) Angelic Pretty Star Night Theatre PINK
Even though the print is not 100% my taste, the unique design of this dress cought my eye!
It´s a pretty rare dress, unfortunately. I´ll keep my eyes open for this! =3

10) Rose Melody Merry go Round PINK
Super sweet dress! =D
Looks a tiny bit unflattering on my waist unfortunately - I think it´s because it was custom made for a bigger girl (I bought it second hand from her). But I´ll fix it somehow, nevermind. =)


That´s it so far. I think there will be a lot more changes on this list in the future, which is quite normal I think. xD"
I`ll definately write a review about the Melty Chocolate replica as soon as I get it. =)

♥Metamorphose temps de fille♥

Metamorphose (the short version of the name) is a japanese lolita brand, get more info´s on this great site: info over heeeere! =D

When I started getting into lolita fashion, Meta wasn´t even a tiny bit interesting to me, I confess. I had a crush on AP from the beginning until now... xD"
But when they started to come up with all those unusual clothes (like the famous PU leather skirt, or the denim version!), Meta catched my interest immediately!

Now I`m so in love with all those detailed prints they´re making - even though the shape of their dresses is mostly not my cup of tea. (I`m a bit picky about this... xD")

I put together a collection of my fav. Meta prints, including print close-up! =)

Oh, and by the way... Swan´s are kind of Metamorphoses "seal". There are swan´s in almost every print of them - so can you find the swan´s in the pictures? ;D
(Haha, remembers me of the old "Where´s Waldo?" books. xD)

ROOM PRINT
(yay, such a creative name... xD")
The whole dress is full of tiny details, which I personally love most about it! Especially on the black version of the dress, the sweet print pop´s out the best I think.
I personally don´t like the shape of this dress, it´s too simple for me - but very perfect in order to get the full attention on the amazing print! =)


MOONLIGHT NIGHT
Meta´s turn on a gate print. xD
I think they pulled it off perfectly, the gate including the Logo looks fabulous!
But I don´t like the clouds above, since they´re looking like a army camouflage pattern on the dress in my opinion. x__X


SWAN LAKEAaaaaah, my absolute favorite (especially this colorway and shape)!
One of Meta´s most romantic prints in my opinion - and the shape of this JSK is just perfect for it, with all the frills! (The breast part with the bow can be taken off, so this JSK can be worn as underbust JSK too! Very functional. =D)
My best friends fav. dress, she infected me with all the love for it. xD"


TWINKLE JOURNEY
Meta´s latest print features Pegasus! :´D
It´s so super sweet, elegant and romantic in this colorway! There are tiny stars all over the skirt part of this JSK, and the top features a lacing with a blue ribbon, to pick up one of the main colors of the print again.
I love all the glitzy so much... and of course the little pony, can´t help it. xD"


Metamorphose is definately worth a look, it´s a great brand besides the famous Angelic Pretty and Baby, the stars shine bright. =)

My breakfast. xD
I felt a bit sick the past weeks, so today I decided to eat a vitamine C bomb for breakfast! A fat Honey Pomelo! xD
(I put an egg beside it to show you how giant it was!)
Haha, but the eatable part of it isn´t that big - maybe the size of a grapefruit. The rest is a big hill of peel. xD"
I love pomelo most of all citrus fruits, because it´s not sour and bitter, but really sweet! x3
